FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Do I have to be in Chorus to audition for Grand Voices?
1. Do I have to be in Chorus to audition for Grand Voices?
- No, all are welcome to audition! Grand Voices is an advanced group of singers, and previous singing experience is often an advantage, however I am happy to consider all interested students who would like to audition.
- No. If you are more comfortable holding the lyrics, that is totally fine.
- No. The recording above (key of A-flat, starting pitch E-flat) is the recording you should practice with. HOWEVER, if you are a boy whose voice has already changed/dropped, a more comfortable starting pitch may be used.
- Not being able to hit every single note is not as important as singing in tune. Just because you can’t hit the highest or lowest note in the song does not mean you automatically will not make it.
- No. Unfortunately I have a strict policy of “no re-do’s”, because most people would like a second try and it wouldn’t be fair to the other students.
- After auditions, a callback list will be posted. Students whose names appear on this list have made it to the next round of auditions. See the GV info sheet given out at the meeting for specific dates and times.
- Yes. Grand Voices meets before school. Aside from a few intramural sports, most sports teams are after school.
- Grand Voices meets on Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings from 7AM to 7:45AM. Some weeks all students will have to come on both days, however the majority of the time meetings are once a week. Please be advised that there is NO bus available for these rehearsals. Students must be able to get to school by 7AM for rehearsals. * Just a heads up; a week or two before a performance, rehearsals twice a week are more common :)
